Roving dyed with easter egg dye by tieing one way and dying with blue, then tieing another way and dying with pink. This pic is sideways. (Roving is wool that has been prepared all in a tube like affair that makes spinning it easier and smoother.)

The roving is still white where it was tied in the knots and the dye couldn't get at it.

spun on cd spindle

CD spindles are the best spinning homemade spindles because they are perfectly round and perfectly centered. Use 2 CD's glued together, as it will spin much better then if you only use one. Just use a dowel cut to the length you want and a rubber grommet from the hardware store.

Can't remember what I made with this yarn, it might be in that crochetted purse.

This type of varigated yarn would make great socks, or a scarf, or a hat, or mittens, (you see my problem).
